On Thanksgiving 2020, I am most thankful for hope.
For the quality itself:
For the innate human ability to desirously expect something better. For the will to survive despite harrowing circumstances. For the invitation to believe that what we don’t have is still on its way.
For the objects of hope:
Hope in the grace that is coming to us. Hope that Christ himself will return and restore us.
In a year in which I’ve never seen a stronger universal need for hope, I’m thankful for a hope that does not disappoint us.
